Anyways- hope you enjoy!

As Grayson continues to talk to the driver, his hand is resting on my knee, his thumb tracing my skin. He’s leaving a trail of heat that has me panting.

This is it. The taxi is going to park and I’m going to need to make a decision. Am I going home or staying with Grayson? Can I do this? Should I do this? Jacob will be at my house in the morning.  He won’t understand…

I feel Grayson squeeze my knee and I flash him a quick smile. “Stop over thinking things, Abby. Do whatever it is that you want to do and makes you happy. No one else’s feelings matter, understand?”

The street lights pass through the car as we drive over the Ravenel Bridge. Mount Pleasant is quiet for this time of night and that quietness makes me nervous. Like a calm before a storm. My heart is pounding in my chest and I swear the others can hear it.

Do I want this? The answer seems so obvious. Yes, I do. My crush on Grayson has grown into desire. I have fantasized of this moment; thinking of Grayson’s smile, his bright eyes, the cocky way he talks about himself, all of it. It drives me crazy. And the thought that he wants me as much as I want him has sent my nerves into overdrive. I never saw myself with anyone after Jacob, and now– now I can’t think of anything else.

I feel the car stop and I come out of my thoughts to see we’re in front of Grayson’s. He reaches over and pays the cab driver. The driver turns around and shakes his hand, “Congratulations, my friends. May you have a blessed marriage, and live each day enveloped in the same passion as I saw tonight.”

I smile at the man and nod. His words are so kind and he means them. I open my door and step out. Grayson steps out on his side and I turn to see him watching me. The car drives away, leaving empty space between us. In two strides, he’s in front of me, his lips inches from mine.  “Stay with me. Nothing has to happen; I just want you to stay.”

Late Summer Sexy- #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSS104

So my fellow writer, Corrissa James, introduced me to this awesome blog called My Sexy Saturday.

It’s a blog hop for romance writers. We can use 7 words, 7 sentences, or 7 paragraphs to promote a sexy scene from any work. Pretty awesome way to find some different authors to check out.

This week’s theme is late summer sexy. It’s my favorite time of year, which is why Playing House is set during it.

** Excerpt from Playing House**

He picks me up and sets me on the countertop, mumbling “I want dessert in here.” He steps between my legs.

Caleb takes a spoon, dips it in the sorbet, and holds it to my mouth. He traces my bottom lip, the cold spoon sending chills throughout my body. Then again, it could be the intense look Caleb is giving me. I open my mouth, allowing the sorbet to coat my tongue. Without taking his eyes from mine, Caleb spoons sorbet into his own mouth. Leaning in, he kisses my lips. They’re cold, but his tongue is warm.

God, he tastes delicious.

He eats another spoonful, kisses my neck right behind my ear and moans. I lean into him as he trails kisses along my neck, around my bruises and up to the other ear. He stops to swallow another spoonful before flicking his tongue against my earlobe.

“Want some?” he asks, teasing my lips with the cold spoon.

I swallow the cold sorbet, my body burning with desire for him. I lean in to kiss him.

He pulls backs. “No ma’am. I’m pleasuring you.”

Playing House coverPlaying House will be released on Sept. 1st but is available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and iBooks.

The Book Effect- Fifty Shades Style

Side Note: This blog does contain crude language and thoughts.

This is what happens when you're born without much of a censor :)

In 2012, I, like everyone else in the world read Fifty Shades of Grey. And I, too, fell for the handsome, yet troubled Christian Grey.

I read them more out of curiosity– not curiosity for sex, bondage, and living in a submissive world. No, I was more curious as to the pull it had for  people. Women I never thought would entertain the idea of holding a book like that were eating it up….and openly talking about it. Well, most of them. Others tended to keep it a dirty little secret.

It was interesting to see the social reaction to the BDSM trilogy. For as long as I can remember, here in the US, sex has been considered “black and white with no room for Grey” (see what I did there? ha!). Sex is between a man and woman, the woman on her back, and should only be used for procreation. Oh, and women supposed to enjoy it; they’re really just there. If you enjoy it or ask for it, you’re a whore.

But, Mira, that’s not true! Women have been open about sex for years now! Just look at a Cosmo.

Have they really though?

Before Fifty Shades, the idea of asking to be tied up was unheard of. Note to the general public. There is a whole world of BDSM that would make your toes curl (in a bad or even good way) and delving into it would make you feel embarrassed and flustered. And if you don’t believe me, read the following words and tell me how they make you feel: anal sex, blow job, spanking.

And I’m not saying that feeling embarrassed is a bad thing! Please, don’t get me wrong. I just find the disconnect we have with sex and sexuality, as a society, fascinating.

We accept pregnant teenagers (hell, we make them celebrities!), barely dressed singers shaking and grinding on a stage, and 10-year-olds buying Victoria’s Secret. No, I’m not kidding. I’ve seen it.

But the minute you suggest female Viagra…oh ho! You must be a freak!

To have laws established that don’t allow certain, ahem, “behaviors” is absurd when Miley Cyrus can stroke herself on TV with a foam finger.

That’s right, there are LAWS on what you can and can’t do in the privacy of your own bedroom. Shit, to take it a step further, people are having to fight just to get married. Really? Shouldn’t our government be more concerned with homelessness and taxes?

What happens between two consenting lovers is between them.

Ok, let me step off this soap box. Blogging may be dangerous for someone as open as me. This post is merely about how books can change public opinion, or at least get the people talking. 🙂 Which, looking back at Fifty Shades, is what it did.

I think things might be taking a turn for a change after the release of Fifty Shades. I’m sure there will be (if there isn’t already) some reality show on TLC about living a bondage lifestyle. I’ve already seen publications like Newsweek talk about what sex toys you can safely take onto a plane (take the batteries out and keep it under 7 inches) and how to spank your partner properly.

Now, with the movie coming out on Valentine’s Day (that takes care of the foreplay fellas), it’ll be even more interesting to see how the masses act toward bringing it to life.

Books have a weird effect like that. I love it.

Remember, everything in this post is an opinion and I'm always open to hearing another's thought. Feel free to comment below-- I just ask that everyone be open to everyone. You don't have to agree, just be open. That's the beautiful thing with our culture :)
