I love you.

Oh, you’re black? Well, I still love you. Asian, Hispanic, Russian, Syrian? Yep, love you too.

I love you.

Oh, you’re a police officer? Emt? Firefighter? Military? I love you still.

A gun supporting man afraid for his family’s future? A hippie woman staring him down, afraid for her family’s future?

I love you both.

Do you flip burgers or work the late shift at the gas station? Or are you the CEO of a major tech firm?

Good…because I love you too.

Do you see a person of the same sex as the person you can see spending the rest if your life with?

Your love makes me love you more.

I’m not black. I’m not a cop. I’m not rich nor poor.

But I know those who are. I know those who run for office and those who run a drive thru. I know black men and women who put family and friends before everything. I know cops and service members who would jump on a grenade to help the people around them. I know white Southerners who cried and prayed for the 9 we lost a year ago.

I love you.

We’re all different. But we’re all the same. And when you forget, always know that I love you.

And if you don’t understand my love, know that I’m praying for you. That all the positive thoughts and feelings go to you to make sure you see the love in this world. It’s not too late for you to feel and accept my love. It’s never too late.

We’re in this together. Always.
